We are currently recruiting for an Electrician on behalf of a bespoke electrical and mechanical engineering company who manage the complete mechanical engineering process including design, manufacture and commissioning. They mainly work within Water Utilities. Operating over 35 years, they are a family owned organisation who have gained a reputable name within the industry for their high-quality work and excellent customer service. They have a client base which boasts some of the biggest names in the engineering sector. Mainly working within the Waste Water and Clean Water industries they provide a range of services including surveying through to design, fabrication, installation and implementation.

As the Electrician you will be working on a range of equipment including pumps, motors, control panels, lights etc. This role will require the ability to effectively liaise with internal staff (both senior and junior) and external clients / contractors in a polite, professional and courteous manner, providing electrical / controls technical support requirements for multiple projects company wide. This is a permanent position, based out of Reading, paying £48,048 - £52,416 per annum depending on experience. It is working Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 4:30pm. 4pm finish on a Friday. Perks include Van & Fuel Card, private use of van, door to door travel, overtime, pension, 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, training & development etc.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out electrical installation work to BS7671.
  • Carry out installation, service and repair to variety of low voltage electrical control systems.
  • Carry out installation and commissioning of a variety of instrumentation systems, including pressure, levels, temperature and flow.
  • From time to time they may be asked to take charge of a working party and be responsible for lesser skilled employees, therefore they should be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of Health & Safety issues and leadership skills.
  • Be capable of carrying out test and inspection of electrical installation and providing satisfactory documentation as required by the Company’s nominated certificating body (NICEIC, ECA etc.)
  • Provide written technical reports and other documentation as required by senior engineering professionals.
  • All Electricians should be PC literate and be able to demonstrate a basic background in IT skills.

Skills & Attributes

  • Water industry experience (preferred)
  • 18th Edition Qualified or other relevant electrical qualification.
  • ECS Gold Card.
  • Ability to fault find, diagnose and resolve technical issues.
  • Ability to work independently and unsupervised.
  • Good customer service skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • An excellent understanding of Health and Safety.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
