We are seeking a skilled HVAC Mechanical Designer to join our innovative team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing detailed mechanical designs and system layouts, ensuring all projects meet technical specifications and quality standards. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to complex system design projects within a dynamic environment, utilising advanced CAD tools and engineering principles.
The Position
- Read and interpret specifications, drawings and design briefs to inform the design and engineering methods required for the mechanical systems.
- Plan and execute mechanical designs using CAD/Revit, and 3D CAD programs.
- Design, from scratch, conceptual HVAC systems for tenders.
- Communicate with clients about project objectives, to ensure that designs meet their needs.
- Create drawings of new mechanical systems or components, using Autodesk CAD/Revit software.
- Select materials, equipment, and processes that will be used in the mechanical services installation.
- Create layouts following the clients' specifications, analyse dimensions and coordination with other services to ensure quality.
- Create Schematics, Technical Specifications, Design Calculations and General Management of HVAC and Chilled Water Systems.
- Prepare technical documentation and develop designs in line with specifications and all quality and technical standards.
- Carry out technical investigations, and assess/provide recommendations regarding consequences.
- Ensure that the quality of outputs in the area of responsibility is to the required level, whilst providing technical oversight of deliverables.
- Provide progress reports for allocated work packages, ensuring that the agreed scope is delivered within budget.
The Person
- Organisational and planning skills.
- Experience with thermal modelling software such as IES, Hevacomp or TAS.
- Communication skills (email, phone, face to face and reporting).
- Ability to cope with and manage changes.
- Problem solving skills.
- Be able to work on more than one project at a time.
- Capability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
- Able to use Autodesk CAD/REVIT, Office 365 and the usual Windows-based office systems.
