HIU Engineer in London

Overview Due to growth, we are currently recruiting for a HIU Engineer on behalf of a fast growing company who design, build and operate district heating networks. This work is for communities, towns, and cities. They work with local authorities, developers, house builders, and property owners. Operating for over 10 years, they have a number of offices in the UK and also overseas. Their services include the design, installation, maintenance and management of plant rooms and heat networks on behalf of local authorities and property developers. They are a fast-growing business who are looking to invest and deliver over £1bn of heat network projects in the coming years. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering operation and maintenance services across their fleet of heat networks. We are looking for someone who has experience with servicing and repairing HIUs. We are looking for an experienced engineer with relevant experience of working HIU of various brands who is knowledgeable, reliable and someone who will contribute positively to their safe & supportive working culture. This is a permanent position, based in London, and is paying up to £46k basic per annum. It is working Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week. The role does have involvement in an on call rota, so the successful candidate will be expected to work on this on call rota. Any hours worked whilst on-call are paid at overtime rates (1.75x hourly rate). Responsibilities * Completion of planned preventative maintenance activities in line with company maintenance schedules * Servicing HIUs and repair works * Completion of fault finding and repairs to HIU’s whilst working on the on-call rota * Attend reactive callouts to sites to reinstate heat and resolve HIU failures * Take part in an on-call rota and attend callouts (typically 1 week in 4) * Review root causes for HIU failure (resolve operational issues which arise) * Management of site-based project work and development of the scope of works for plant remediation. * Safe isolation of equipment before commencing works * Proactive in recognising H&S improvements and Incentives. * Consistently working autonomously & often providing technical support to other members of the team line * Ensure your own system records are kept up to date to ensure accurate and secure records. This will involve the completion of clear and concise online work orders. * Can assist with 1 and 12 monthly mechanical PPM checks within plant rooms * Assist in preparing commissioning procedures Skills & Attributes * Experience working on HIUs. * Knowledge of heat network energy centres and plantrooms. * Able to read technical drawings e.g., P&IDs & mechanical schematics. * Electrical competency (basic) preferred. * Good communication and customer service skills. * The ability to work independently and use your own initiative. * An eye for detail and a desire to work to a very high standard. * Full UK Driving License.
