The Opportunity
Our client is a leading global player in the Oil & Gas Industry. They design and manufacture ROVs (Remotely Operated Vehicles), Observation Class ROVs, Trenchers and Submarine Rescue Systems. Continued growth has created a new opportunity for an experienced Electrical Electronics Engineer to join an established team carrying out engineering design and support functions. Responsible for small projects or sub-sections of larger projects under the instruction of more senior engineers.
The Position
- Manage design projects from initial concept/enquiry through detailed design to manufacturing handover.
- Provide design input on projects, using the technical competencies listed below.
- Generation of ideas for developments and new products.
- Be responsible for small projects or sub-sections of larger projects.
- Produce engineering designs, specifications and documentation to ISO 9001.
- Assist in the preparation of operating and maintenance manuals.
- Offsite engineering support for new products.
- Assist sales and marketing in the preparation of quotes and proposals.
- Provide customer support.
- Assist in the training of customer operating personnel.
- Provide technical support to the production, logistics and integration departments.
- Work within the requirements of company procedures and national and international regulations.
- Work within the timescales and budgets set by the company.
- Instruct, train and mentor subordinate engineering staff.
- Other activities as directed by the Engineering Manager.
- Ensure the suitability of the engineering aspects of company products for their function.
- Prompt replies to production, logistical and technical support questions.
- Provide design input on all projects as required, within the timescales set by the company.
The Person
- Ideally a Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or related/equivalent subject.
- Experience of electronic systems such as electric motor types, power distribution and protection equipment, variable speed drives, wiring distribution systems, Industrial sensors and equipment.
- PCB manufacturing and standards.
- Design of analogue and digital electronic circuits.
- PCB design using Altium or equivalent.
- Inspection, testing and certification requirements.
- Ability to complete and check designs and documentation.
