A fast-growing UAV technology start-up is seeking a QA Test Engineer to support the development of advanced assurance systems for AI-driven robotics. As a QA Test Engineer, you will play a key role in verifying and validating embedded software within a runtime assurance platform. Working closely with cross-functional engineering teams, you’ll design and execute robust testing strategies, drive quality improvements, and support the delivery of safe, reliable systems across multiple hardware architectures and real-time operating systems.

Key Responsibilities of the QA Test Engineer:

  • Design and execute verification and validation strategies for embedded software systems
  • Develop and maintain automated test frameworks and infrastructure
  • Apply advanced testing techniques such as fuzz testing, constrained random testing, and automation-led validation
  • Ensure compliance with safety-critical standards including DO-178C, ISO 26262, and IEC 61508
  • Own the full QA lifecycle: test design, execution, automation, and CI/CD integration
  • Define and maintain test cases, ensuring traceability and repeatability
  • Manage defect tracking, reporting, and resolution in line with structured QA processes
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to continuously improve quality and testing practices

Skills & Experience of the QA Test Engineer:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or similar (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years’ experience with Python in a commercial or research environment
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g. Jenkins, AWS CodePipeline, CloudBuild)
  • Experience with Software-in-the-Loop (SiL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) testing
  • Strong understanding of Agile, CI, and test-driven development (TDD) principles
  • Exposure to safety-critical or regulated environments is highly desirable
  • Active SC Clearance essential
