Mechanical Design Engineer – Glasgow (Permanent) Apex Resources working with a high-tech engineering company in Glasgow that designs and manufactures bespoke products for advanced industries. With continued growth and new projects underway, they are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their small, collaborative design team. This is a permanent role based in Glasgow. This role gives you the chance to be involved in the entire product lifecycle — from concept and CAD modelling through to manufacture, validation, and hands-on prototype assembly. You’ll work closely with internal teams and customers to develop creative, practical design solutions for complex challenges. Key Responsibilities * Produce conceptual 3D CAD models and develop them into detailed designs. * Collaborate with customer engineering teams to ensure requirements are met. * Generate manufacturing drawings and supporting documentation. * Provide hands-on engineering support during prototype builds and production. * Design and adapt fixtures and tooling to support manufacturing needs. * Take ownership of mechanical design from concept to delivery. Experience & Skills * Degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant industry experience. * 5+ years in a mechanical design role with strong 3D CAD skills (SolidWorks preferred). * Proven track record in mechanical design, including fixture/tooling design. * Practical, hands-on experience with prototype assembly and manufacturing processes. * Creative problem-solver with strong attention to detail. * Self-motivated, proactive, and eager to develop new skills and approaches.
