Supplier Quality & Development Engineer

We are seeking a Supplier Quality & Development Engineer to join our team on a six-month contract, based in Woking. This role is pivotal to ensuring quality and efficiency in our supplier processes, specifically focusing on PPAP, part approval tracking, and supplier development. Your work will play a crucial role in meeting quality, capacity, and cost targets that align with the company s objectives.

Principal Accountabilities for the Supplier Quality & Development Engineer

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to promote collaborative practices that enhance the company s profitability and project outcomes.
  • On-Site Supplier Management: Be present on-site at suppliers locations to oversee trial runs, production builds, and ensure adherence to agreed processes.
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conduct thorough supplier and part risk assessments, developing actionable strategies to address and mitigate identified risks.
  • Supplier Reporting: Provide regular progress reports to the Purchasing and Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) Program team, covering open issues, PPAP part tracking, and delivery forecasts.
  • PPAP Part Approval Management: Oversee the tracking and management of PPAP part approvals to ensure timely and consistent delivery per the agreed plan.
  • Non-PPAP Part Concession Management: Administer the concession process for non-PPAP parts to ensure that all necessary components are ready for build phases.
  • Quality and Capacity Verification: Ensure that suppliers meet the company s Development Process targets for quality and capacity.
  • Issue Resolution: Engage supplier senior management in resolving major open issues and developing long-term improvement plans.
  • Continuous Improvement: Work alongside suppliers to develop and implement improvement strategies that enhance production efficiency and meet the company s quality standards.

Required Skills and Experience for the Supplier Quality & Development Engineer

  • Strong experience in Supplier Quality Engineering within the automotive sector.
  • Proficiency in PPAP, 8D, and capacity verification processes.
  • A background in extrusion or rubber manufacturing (preferred).
