An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Advanced Manufacturing Engineer to join a fast‑paced automotive manufacturing environment supporting a critical type approval and conformity of production (CoP / COC2) programme. This role is focused on establishing the manufacturing process controls, documentation and compliance standards required to support an upcoming vehicle launch and achieve second‑stage type approval. This is a highly visible assignment requiring someone who can quickly embed themselves into the operation and deliver high‑quality manufacturing documentation at pace.
The successful candidate will play a key role in defining manufacturing processes, producing control plans and work instructions and ensuring the business is audit‑ready for compliance reviews and ongoing production activity.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement manufacturing process controls to support Conformity of Production (CoP) and type approval requirements
- Produce detailed work instructions, control plans, process flows, and manufacturing documentation
- Define and standardise manufacturing and assembly processes across production operations
- Support compliance activities relating to COC2 / second‑stage type approval
- Work closely with production, quality and engineering teams to identify process gaps and implement corrective actions
- Ensure manufacturing documentation aligns with automotive industry standards and audit expectations
- Support safety‑critical and quality‑critical process checks throughout the build process
- Assist with launch readiness activities for upcoming vehicle programmes
- Review and improve existing manufacturing procedures to increase robustness and repeatability
- Support external reviews and compliance assessments where required
- Proven experience as a Manufacturing Engineer, Process Engineer or AME Engineer within the automotive sector
- Strong experience creating manufacturing documentation, including: Work Instructions, Control Plans, Process Flows, SOPs, Process Controls
- Previous exposure to automotive type approval, Conformity of Production (CoP), APQP or regulated manufacturing environments
- Strong understanding of manufacturing compliance and safety/critical process control
- Excellent computer literacy and confidence in producing technical documentation quickly and accurately
- Ability to work autonomously in a fast‑moving environment with tight deadlines
- Strong stakeholder communication and organisational skills
- Experience supporting vehicle launch or prototype build programmes would be highly advantageous
