As a Category Assistant, you will gain hands-on exposure to product lifecycle management, market research, commercial analysis, and product launch activities. The Category Assistant position offers an excellent opportunity to build commercial and analytical capability while developing the skills required. This is a key role to support within the category team and coordinate with product management activities.
Role & Responsibilities of the Category Assistant
- Provide administrative and organisational support to the category management team
- Assist in gathering and maintaining market, competitor, and consumer data
- Prepare reports, presentations, and analyses to support category decision-making
- Maintain product databases, pricing files, and key product documentation
- Assist with product sample management and coordination
- Track progress of new product development projects and support project timelines
- Compile sales and product performance reports
- Support margin and pricing analysis under guidance from senior team members
- Maintain accurate records of product and promotional performance
- Assist in coordinating new product launch activities
- Support the preparation of sales and marketing materials for product launches
- Ensure product information is accurately shared across internal systems and platforms
- Assist with organising promotional activities and monitoring their effectiveness
- Support the preparation of customer presentations and product materials
- Liaise with suppliers, agencies, and internal departments as required
Requirements of the Category Assistant
- Degree in Business, Marketing, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
- Strong interest in product management, marketing, or commercial roles
- Good analytical and numerical skills with the ability to interpret data
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for occasional travel
Hours: Monday-Thursday 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. | Friday 7:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Hybrid: 4 days in the office, 1 day working from home
