Lead Energy Management Engineer
Location: Gaydon Onsite
Contract Type: Ongoing, Inside IR35
Rate: £25.26 per hour PAYE / £33.88 per hour Umbrella
Role Overview:
We are looking for an Lead Energy Management Engineer to take a leading role in developing intelligent, optimised energy systems that enhance real-world driving range and efficiency. Working closely with the engineering team, you will support programme delivery by facilitating scrum events, daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
The role involves coordinating efficiency attribute verification, analysing data, and identifying risks and opportunities to influence engineering direction. You will also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives , support effective governance of energy attributes, and ensure collaboration across teams to deliver high-quality, data-driven solutions for next-generation vehicles.
The Lead Energy Management Engineer will take a leading role in:

  • Supporting the Efficiency Product Owner in the delivery of data-driven, intelligent, optimised energy nodes (sources of energy conversion) in pursuit of Vehicle Efficiency attributes (eg. real world and homologated driving range and energy consumption).
  • Collaborating with a wide range of business stakeholders and Engineers to deliver vehicle programmes against the teams Quality Operating Schedule
  • Identifying risks and opportunities in a robust data-driven manner with the purpose of informing and influencing business decisions and engineering direction related to vehicle energy nodes.

Responsibilities of the Lead Energy Management Engineer will include:

  • Supporting squads to plan and share work through facilitating focused and engaging scrum events.
  • Conduct daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
  • Identifying and facilitating in the removal of impediments and risks.
  • Coordinating and contributing towards Vehicle Efficiency attribute verifications and data analysis.
  • Supporting effective Vehicle Efficiency attribute governance throughout vehicle programmes, identifying and making recommendations for how to handle risks and opportunities as they arise.
  • Collaborating with tools and methods teams to support development of Vehicle Efficiency attribute.

Skills Required:

  • Educated to Degree level (ideally with a focus on Mechanical or System Engineering).
  • Experience of Vehicle attribute and/or vehicle system delivery.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of working with Agile operating principles.
  • Evidence of a methodical, structured approach to problem solving.
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to use data and visualisations to articulate complex risks, opportunities and recommendations in an easily digestible way.
