The EDS Technician will support the design, routing, assembly and packaging of electrical wiring harnesses for current and future automotive programmes. This role focuses on hands-on harness development using CAD data, wiring harness guides and engineering change processes, contributing to the successful validation and release of electrical systems on high-performance road vehicles.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Carry out wiring harness routing and packaging activities using wiring harness guides and concept CAD data.
- Assemble and fix electrical wiring harnesses to meet packaging, quality and validation requirements.
- Develop effective routing paths using retainers, channels, grommets and appropriate retention methods.
- Select suitable retention items, coverings and protection based on 3D model routing and surrounding geometry.
- Update harness designs following packaging changes and communicate updates to system integration teams.
- Support the release, validation and sign-off of vehicle electrical components and sub-systems.
- Create and manage harness packaging issue lists and drive resolution ahead of validation builds.
- Refer and work from 2D harness drawings aligned to 3D vehicle models.
- Support engineering change management activities, including Engineering Change Requests.
Requirements:
- Experience in electrical wiring harness routing, packaging and assembly within an automotive environment.
- Working knowledge of CAD platforms such as CATIA V5 Electrical Workbench, Capital Logic or Capital Harness.
- Understanding of electrical system engineering, DFMEA and change management processes.
- Experience supporting system release from concept through to manufacture.
- Degree or Diploma in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
