Role Summary
The Bespoke Vehicle Configuration Specialist is responsible for steering the delivery of bespoke vehicle projects through business systems, converting sales requirements into accurate and actionable data. Working cross-functionally with sales, engineering, purchasing, logistics, workshop personnel and production teams, this role ensures bespoke vehicle specifications are correctly defined, managed and delivered to required quality standards. The position also supports vehicle programme readiness, continuous improvement activities and bespoke product development.
Role & Responsibilities
- Attending and supporting bespoke enquiry meetings to capture customer requirements accurately.
- Releasing new vehicle orders to planning teams and managing mandatory requirements and tracking activities.
- Translating customer requirements into detailed project specifications.
- Creating and maintaining service orders, trackers and SAP data.
- Producing supplier technical drawings and maintaining configurable parts within SAP.
- Managing supply route and planning data for bespoke components.
- Supporting Bill of Materials (BoM) changes in line with bespoke specifications.
- Producing build documentation including paint strategies, End of Line documentation and Post Build Modification strategies.
- Quality checking service orders prior to release to maintain Right First Time standards.
- Identifying, managing and escalating risks relating to order quality and throughput.
- Supporting change management, issue resolution and root cause analysis activities.
- Supporting workshop teams by ensuring specifications and work packages are complete and accurate.
- Monitoring team systems, inboxes and administration processes.
- Leading preparedness activities for nominated vehicle programmes.
- Creating templates and standardised work packages to improve efficiency.
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives across processes and systems.
Requirements of the Role
Successful candidates for the Bespoke Vehicle Configuration Specialist role will demonstrate:
- Strong attention to detail, ideally within data entry or specification-based environments.
- Experience delivering high levels of customer service.
- Ability to understand and interpret technical drawings.
- Interest in automotive manufacturing and technical products.
- Strong communication skills across multiple business functions.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel.
- Ability to prioritise multiple tasks and work independently.
Desirable:
- Understanding of automotive interior, exterior and body systems.
- Experience using automation tools such as Macros, Power Automate or AI-based solutions.
- Experience using SAP.
- Project or project coordination experience.
- Experience within automotive, manufacturing or technical administration environments.
