The Company:

We are working with a prestigious UK-based automotive manufacturer to recruit a Quality Engineer to support a range of low-volume, high-end vehicle projects. This role is ideal for an experienced quality engineer who thrives in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment and is passionate about delivering excellence across the entire vehicle lifecycle — from supplier quality management to final vehicle sign-off. This is a rare opportunity to contribute to truly bespoke, high-end vehicle projects in a role that spans design, production, and delivery. You will be part of a close-knit team delivering exceptional quality in every detail.

Responsibilities of the Quality Engineer:

  • Develop and implement control plans to ensure full conformity of all purchased components. This includes supplier selection, audit coordination, quality planning, and managing approvals using methodologies such as APQP and Maturity Level Assurance.
  • Define where and how quality inspections are carried out during vehicle build. Act as the primary escalation point for issues relating to fit, finish, colour matching, and functional testing.
  • Establish cosmetic and functional criteria for final release. Lead the resolution of any quality concerns identified at this stage.
  • Support the analysis and resolution of any issues identified during pre-delivery testing, including cosmetic or functional concerns.
  • Where projects share components with mainstream models, work closely with wider quality teams to ensure aligned processes and robust issue resolution.

Requirements of the Quality Engineer:

  • Proven experience in low-volume automotive or related engineering environments, with strong supplier management skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of automotive quality standards such as IATF and VDA.
  • Proficient in handheld measurement techniques, with the ability to interpret engineering drawings and apply tolerancing principles.
  • Practical understanding of manufacturing processes such as metal forming, casting, moulding and machining.
  • Excellent problem-solving, planning, and communication skills.
  • A technical or engineering qualification is advantageous but not essential.
