Role Summary

An exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Quality Process Engineer to support the delivery of manufacturing quality objectives throughout series production within a high-performance automotive manufacturing environment. Reporting to the Quality Systems Manager, the Manufacturing Quality Process Engineer will be responsible for ensuring Manufacturing Quality-owned processes are robustly defined, maintained and continuously improved to support product conformity, customer satisfaction and operational performance.

The role will also lead the implementation of quality-related production changes, ensuring effective deployment, process compliance and continuous improvement across manufacturing operations. The Manufacturing Quality Process Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive quality improvements, manage quality concerns and support operational excellence initiatives.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain and improve robust Control Plans using appropriate quality inputs including PFMEA.
  • Create and maintain process documentation supporting inspection, verification and validation activities.
  • Ensure all LEG-SOS requirements are current, available and aligned to production requirements.
  • Support operator training activities to ensure successful implementation of process changes.
  • Develop comprehensive torque audit plans aligned to build, process and quality requirements.
  • Coordinate torque audit activity and ensure timely completion across relevant departments.
  • Document non-conformances identified during audits and drive actions through to resolution.
  • Manage Manufacturing Quality-owned QCRs from assignment through to closure or formal handover.
  • Utilise statistical analysis techniques to identify trends, root causes and improvement opportunities.
  • Support Engineering, Corporate Quality, Logistics and Launch teams to achieve manufacturing quality deliverables.
  • Lead Manufacturing Quality Change Requests, ensuring effective assessment, planning, implementation and verification
  • Promote continuous improvement initiatives to optimise manufacturing quality performance.
  • Support process compliance and adherence to relevant quality standards and customer requirements.

Requirements of the Role

  • Degree-qualified in Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • Previous experience within a Manufacturing Engineering or Quality Engineering role in automotive manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of automotive manufacturing processes and quality systems.
  • Experience developing and maintaining Control Plans, PFMEAs, process documentation and inspection standards.
  • Experience conducting process audits.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications and manufacturing requirements.
  • Experience with process mapping and system design methodologies.
  • Proven use of structured problem-solving techniques including 8D, DMAIC, PPS, 5 Why and Ishikawa.
  • Experience analysing quality data and implementing robust corrective actions.
  • Knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 9001, APQP, PPAP and Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Strong statistical analysis and data interpretation skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and cross-functional communication abilities.
  • Demonstrated capability to drive process optimisation and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • High attention to detail with a strong customer-focused approach.
  • Competent in project planning, prioritisation and delivery.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SAP and CATIA.
  • Strong leadership, decision-making and relationship-building skills.

Please note, this role is deemed inside of IR35. The Umbrella Pay Rate offered is inclusive of the Assignment pay rate, holiday pay and Apex Recruitment's contribution towards Employer Costs.
