The Suspension Engineer will apply established engineering theories and principles to deliver complex suspension engineering activities across research and development programmes. As a Suspension Engineer, you will operate within an Agile Squad environment, supporting the design, validation, and industrialisation of suspension systems while ensuring delivery to quality, cost, and timing targets.
Role & Responsibilities
- Deliver the commodity plan to quality, cost, and timing targets, including maintenance of the Worldwide Engineering Release System.
- Deliver Engineering Advanced Product Quality Planning deliverables.
- Support the management of Change Requests, expenditure forecasting, and coordination with supplier teams to meet programme milestones.
- Develop and support spring and damper module test plans, including detailed planning through development stages to sign-off.
- Support engineering test teams with issue rectification and root cause analysis.
- Assist in resolving issues with supplier component engineering and vehicle attribute teams to achieve target performance.
- Ensure all relevant engineering standards are met throughout design maturation.
- Support achievement of programme cost and weight targets.
- Maintain legal regulations, requirements management, and design verification documentation.
- Keep module documentation up to date, including meeting records.
- Undertake additional tasks as directed by the line manager in support of the Suspension Engineer role.
Requirements of the Role
- Proven experience managing business, technical, and process issue resolution within a project team environment.
- Strong knowledge of product creation and delivery, change control, and product definition processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders.
- Experience within engineering or programme planning environments.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and understand GD&T notation.
- CAD / CAE design and analysis experience, ideally using Dassault toolsets.
- Exposure to suspension damper, coil spring, or air spring technologies.
- Experience working within Agile or Scrum methodologies.
- Degree qualified or equivalent industry experience.
