The Field Quality Engineer â Electrical will support CMP vehicle programmes by leading structured investigations into customer and field electrical system issues. The role focuses on handsâon diagnosis, testing, and structured problem solving, with specific responsibility for D1âD4 activities within the 8D framework to ensure robust rootâcause identification and containment prior to customer delivery.
Role & Responsibilities
- Act as the Field Quality Engineer â Electrical supporting all CMP vehicles through build and customer handover.
- Own and execute D1âD4 activities within the 8D problemâsolving framework, including problem definition, containment, and rootâcause analysis.
- Lead structured investigations into customer and field electrical system issues.
- Take ownership of multiple technical topics and progress them through defined problemâsolving stages.
- Diagnose and investigate vehicle electrical and electronic systems.
- Carry out component and systemâlevel testing to replicate faults and validate root cause.
- Fix customerârelated electrical issues and support implementation of effective corrective actions.
- Work with vehicle communication networks such as CAN and LIN during fault investigation and testing.
- Support daily quality activities linked to vehicle build, testing, and customer delivery.
Requirements Of The Role
- Degreeâqualified in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
- Proven problemâsolving experience within an engineering, manufacturing, or quality environment.
- Experience applying structured problemâsolving methodologies, specifically 8D with focus on D1âD4.
- Knowledge of automotive electrical and electronic systems, with transferable systemâlevel understanding.
- Handsâon experience diagnosing faults, testing components, and validating fixes.
- Working knowledge of vehicle communication networks such as CAN and LIN.
- Six Sigma or Green Belt qualification is desirable.
