Our client is a world‑leading manufacturing company based in Leamington Spa. They specialise in heavy‑duty vehicles and are looking for a Fitter / Assembler to join their team on a permanent basis.
Responsibilities:
- Uses own skills and hand‑held tools to assemble painted steel components and supplier components efficiently to maximise production.
- Operates all equipment safely and reports hazards associated with the equipment or its operations to the Fitting Shop Team Leader.
- Produces finished sub‑assemblies and machines to the required quality standard.
- Involved in the inspection of the machine.
- Self‑inspects own work to set quality standards.
- Follows the required procedures to assist in the assembly process.
- Maintains and produces output at a level that minimises production delays.
- Cleans and maintains an orderly work area.
- Communicates effectively with other workers in the process workflow.
- Assists others in the area when needed.
Key Skills Required:
- Assembly experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems.
- Good mechanical skills.
- Ability to read and work from drawings and standard operating procedures.
- Physical ability to work in awkward positions such as kneeling, lying down and overhead.
- Ability to climb and work from a ladder or platform.
- Ability to operate hand‑held tools, including air‑operated wrenches.
- Trained in the use of overhead cranes.
- Flexible attitude to working hours.
Working Hours:
- Day shift: 08:00-17:00 Monday‑Thursday and 08:00-12:00 Friday (38 hours).
- Rotating weekly shifts: 06:00-14:30 Monday‑Thursday and 06:00-12:00 Friday; 14:30-23:00 Monday‑Thursday and 12:00-18:00 Friday.
