Apex Recruit is currently looking for experienced Mental Health Support Workers to work within a mental health hospital based in Clacton-on-Sea. This is an ongoing temporary position supporting individuals with complex mental health needs. Applicants must be confident working within a hospital environment and managing behaviours that may challenge.
Main Responsibilities
- Providing person-centred support to patients.
- Supporting patients with daily routines and activities.
- Promoting independence, dignity and emotional wellbeing.
- Observing and reporting changes in behaviour or wellbeing.
- Following individual care plans and risk assessments.
- Supporting clinical and care teams to maintain a safe environment.
- Using approved de-escalation and intervention techniques when required.
- Maintaining accurate records and handover notes.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience working within mental health, secure care or a similar setting.
- Current PMVA or MAPPA training.
- Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to complete a new DBS.
- Good communication and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
- Flexible availability for day, night and weekend shifts.
