Apex Recruit is currently looking for experienced Mental Health Support Workers to work within a mental health hospital based in Clacton-on-Sea. This is an ongoing temporary position supporting individuals with complex mental health needs. Applicants must be confident working within a hospital environment and managing behaviours that may challenge.

Main Responsibilities

  • Providing person-centred support to patients.
  • Supporting patients with daily routines and activities.
  • Promoting independence, dignity and emotional wellbeing.
  • Observing and reporting changes in behaviour or wellbeing.
  • Following individual care plans and risk assessments.
  • Supporting clinical and care teams to maintain a safe environment.
  • Using approved de-escalation and intervention techniques when required.
  • Maintaining accurate records and handover notes.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience working within mental health, secure care or a similar setting.
  • Current PMVA or MAPPA training.
  • Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to complete a new DBS.
  • Good communication and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
  • Flexible availability for day, night and weekend shifts.
  • Right to work in the UK.
