The Apex Group was established in Bermuda in 2003 and is now one of the world’s largest fund administration and middle office solutions providers. Our business is unique in its ability to reach globally, service locally and provide cross-jurisdictional services. With our clients at the heart of everything we do, our hard-working team has successfully delivered on an unprecedented growth and transformation journey, and we are now represented by over circa 13,000 employees across 112 offices worldwide.

Apex Group is seeking to hire a Data Analyst for their Custodian Monitoring Service. We are a small team, working entirely from home, that deliver a range of monthly products to our clients. Our work is primarily based on the use of Excel to collate and clean our data and, as well as being proficient with Excel, our Analysts manage and maintain our relationships with our data providers.

Given the nature of our work and our remote work locations we are looking for someone who is able to manage their own work with relatively little direct oversight and has the confidence to raise their hand when they need help. We also emphasise a no blame culture and that requires a level of maturity and self-confidence amongst our team that allows us to raise our hands when something goes wrong and say “That was me, this is what happened and this is how I think we can fix it and prevent it happening again.”

Our products are primarily Custody and FX oriented, therefore experience in either or both of those will be an advantage. However, finding the right ‘fit’ is crucial and this experience can be built up over time. Given the range of data and sources we deal with, it is difficult to utilise a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach to the data so there will be opportunities to develop new bespoke processes and redevelop existing processes to be more efficient and effective.

Whilst we do have days when we all need to be online at the same time so we can work cooperatively, we are primarily focussed on the effective delivery of monthly work cycles so we do offer an element of flexible working. This is important as, sometimes, an urgent client need can require a longer day, but we strive to ensure that time can be taken back within as short a timeframe as possible. It also allows our team members to plan their time to maximise personal efficiency and effectiveness. We treat our staff as independent, responsible, decision-makers who, once trained and comfortable, will be able to manage their own workload.

Overview of Daily Tasks
  • Manage relationships with allocated custodian bank(s) and data vendors to ensure timely and accurate receipt of data required for monthly reporting cycle
  • Detailed analysis and processing of received data and timely delivery of data to the Operations Manager
  • Participate in detailed review of client reports produced to ensure accuracy
  • Assisting with the production of client presentations as and when required
  • Involvement in ad hoc tasks as and when required
Responsibilities
  • Strong relationships with data providers are essential and these need to be proactively managed
  • Responsibility for ensuring output delivered is accurate and timely, without the need for daily supervision
  • Ownership of the data analysis process and its outcomes
  • Working closely with the other team members, despite the geographic distance, regularly initiating calls and participating in social interactions
Requirements
  • Multi-year experience working within asset servicing, fund management, financial services, custody, FX or similar
  • Postgraduate that utilised quantitative research methods with large datasets
  • Strong working experience of Microsoft Excel
  • Comfortable with learning new non-intuitive applications/programmes
Beneficial
  • Experience building data visualisation with PowerBi / Tableau / etc
Skills
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Independent thinking
  • Ability to work alone or as part of a remote team
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Flexible and strong work ethic
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
