Role Purpose:
- To manage a varied portfolio of UK trusts and supervise junior staff.
Accountabilities & Main Responsibilities:
- To have client relationship management responsibility for a portfolio of UK trusts.
- To have a supervisory role and people management responsibility.
- To manage effectively new business on-boarding and allocation within team.
- To be responsible for revenue targets and standards of customer service level delivered by the team.
- To co-ordinate case work with team members, Operations and Support Teams, determining priorities and forward planning.
- To report to Business Head on team and workload, determining priorities, forward planning and training in accordance with the needs of the team.
Technical:
- To manage a portfolio of UK trusts in accordance with the trust instrument and all new and amended legislation, case law and practice.
- To monitor the successful management of trust investments by reviewing investment reports and ensuring agreed investment policies are implemented and remain appropriate.
- To consider and where appropriate exercise discretionary powers over trust assets ensuring that documentation is completed correctly and filed.
- To organise and review all tax calculations, tax returns, income tax certificates and Inheritance Tax forms (mainly for UK trusts) and submissions by the statutory deadline.
- To ensure all tax calculations are correct and returns and elections are submitted by the relevant dates.
- To ensure accurate and timely annual trust accounts or equivalent information are provided to beneficiaries as applicable.
- To oversee the creation and maintenance of accurate trust summaries across the Team trust book.
- To deal with the establishment of new trusts ensuring that all trust opening procedures are followed, documents are completed and records set up correctly.
- To deal with the closure of trusts following the death of a life tenant, coming of age or other event ensuring that all trust closing procedures are followed.
- To attend workshops and seminars as required and to keep abreast of developments within the UK trust and fiduciary industry.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Report any identified issues and risks, including legal/regulatory matters and client complaints, to senior management promptly.
- To act in accordance with all legal and regulatory requirements affecting the Company and ensuring that actions comply with both departmental procedures and this job description.
Qualifications & Skills:
- The jobholder must be CTA, ACCA or STEP qualified or equivalent.
- The jobholder is a technical specialist in their respective field.
- The work is highly confidential and requires the jobholder to perform well under pressure.
- Acts as a senior point of contact with key internal and external clients or relevant stakeholders.
- The jobholder must show self-motivation and ability to work independently.
