About Holtara

Our economic system has delivered unprecedented prosperity — but often at significant environmental and social cost. The time has come to forge a new path and transition to a more sustainable economy. Holtara is leading the way in building effective ESG & sustainability programs, combining expert advisory with award‑winning platforms. For over 15 years, we’ve empowered investors, managers, and companies to leave a legacy they can genuinely be proud of. As part of the global Apex Group, our 130‑strong team spans Amsterdam, London, the US, Spain, and India — united by a shared ambition to drive meaningful change. We offer a unique combination of advisory and technology services across the investment lifecycle, helping businesses make a real impact today for a more sustainable tomorrow.

The role

We are looking for a senior leader to further build and lead Holtara’s UK advisory presence. This is a client‑facing leadership role for someone who combines commercial drive, advisory credibility, team leadership and sustainability depth. We are not looking for a pure technical specialist, nor a traditional sales profile; we want a senior advisor who builds trust with clients, leads teams, wins and shapes work, and translates sustainability into practical business, investment and portfolio value. The role reports to the Global Head of Advisory and works closely with advisory leadership, Holtara.io, the Delivery Team and Apex Group colleagues.

What you will do

  • Client development & growth: Own and expand senior relationships with UK private markets investors, GPs, LPs, financial institutions, portfolio companies and corporates. Identify and convert advisory opportunities across ESG due diligence, climate transition, sustainability value creation, reporting, regulatory readiness, sustainable finance and impact. Act as senior sponsor for priority accounts, shape commercial propositions, and convert warm Apex referral channels into mandates. Represent Holtara at client meetings, roundtables and industry forums, building visibility in the UK sustainability and private markets ecosystem.
  • Team leadership & people development: Lead, coach and develop consultants and senior advisors, with day‑to‑day guidance and feedback on client work. Build a high‑performance, collaborative and inclusive culture, and set clear standards for advisory quality and commercial contribution.
  • Delivery & quality: Act as engagement director or senior advisor on complex, strategic assignments, ensuring high‑quality, on‑time, commercially relevant delivery. Translate technical sustainability findings into board‑level and investment‑relevant insight, using Holtara methodologies, data and platform capabilities. Oversee work across ESG due diligence, climate and carbon, value creation, strategy, reporting, regulatory readiness, responsible supply chains, biodiversity, human rights and impact.
  • Proposition development: Translate bespoke advisory work into repeatable, platform‑enabled propositions, playbooks and diagnostics across the investment lifecycle. Work with Holtara.io and technology colleagues to connect advisory expertise to platform features, data workflows and AI‑enabled delivery. Contribute to thought leadership and Holtara’s market positioning.

What you bring

  • Experience: 8+ years in sustainability advisory, ESG, strategy consulting, private markets, responsible investment or a related field. Given the strategic nature of the role, experience advising clients on sustainability related regulatory developments and requirements is highly desirable.
  • Client credibility: A strong record with senior clients — investment teams, operating partners, sustainability leaders, CFOs, CEOs, boards and financial institutions — and the ability to turn complex sustainability topics into commercial, investment‑relevant narratives.
  • Commercial track record: Demonstrated growth of relationships, accounts and revenue, working through warm networks and referral channels rather than cold outbound.
  • Sustainability breadth: Working command of several of: ESG due diligence; sustainability strategy; climate and decarbonisation; ESG reporting and portfolio monitoring; SFDR, CSRD and EU Taxonomy; responsible supply chains, human rights and biodiversity; sustainable finance and impact. Senior judgement matters more than deep technical expertise in every area.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead and develop teams in a global organisation, across cultures, time zones and levels of seniority.
  • Technology mindset: Comfortable with data and platform‑enabled advisory, and genuinely interested in AI‑enabled delivery and scalable propositions.
  • Profile: Strategic, commercial and practical, with strong executive presence; comfortable with ambiguity and change; motivated by building something better, not only maintaining an existing practice.

Practical details

  • Location: London / United Kingdom — hybrid, with travel to clients and Holtara offices as needed.
  • Reporting line: Global Head of Advisory, working closely with advisory leadership, the technology team, the Delivery Team and Apex Group.
  • Education: Advanced degree in business, finance, economics, environmental science, engineering, sustainability or a related discipline preferred. Professional fluency in English required.
