Overview
Apex Fintech Solutions is seeking a Staff Platform Engineer to join a fast-paced team with the urgency of a startup and the expertise of an established organisation. The role involves building and operating real-time, high-volume API edge services and infrastructure to support billions of transactions per day.
Responsibilities
- Edge Services Leadership: Design and oversee enterprise-level API edge services and infrastructure. Establish best practices for API management, including version control, security policies, and traffic management.
- Advanced NGINX Configuration and Optimisation: Configure and optimise NGINX to handle high-volume traffic. Drive load balancing, reverse proxying, and caching strategies to maximise performance.
- Automation and Integration: Architect and mature automation scripts and tools to enhance deployments and configurations. Integrate API solutions with CI/CD pipelines to automate deployment. Lead infrastructure automation initiatives to support robust service deployment and management.
- Documentation and Training: Develop comprehensive documentation and guidelines. Lead training sessions to ensure teams implement best practices.
- Proactive Monitoring and System Optimisation: Lead monitoring of performance and security, identify bottlenecks, and implement real-time insights through advanced logging and monitoring solutions.
- Strategic Collaboration and Communication: Act as a senior point of contact with development teams and other stakeholders. Communicate updates and facilitate post-implementation reviews for continuous improvement.
- Technical Leadership: support and guide junior engineers and stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor\’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of platform engineering experience with knowledge of enterprise API management tools (Apigee, Kong, Tyk) and NGINX configuration.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Expertise with containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), cloud platforms (GCP, AWS), and infrastructure automation (Terraform, Ansible).
- Expertise in software release tooling, GitOps, and CI/CD practices.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of API management methodologies, security practices, and traffic management strategies.
- This job operates in a hybrid, office environment 3 days per week.
