About This Role

We’re seeking an innovative, passionate, and forward-thinking individual to join us as a Staff Platform Engineer. This is an opportunity to work with a fast-paced team that combines startup urgency with the expertise of an established organization. Your work will involve processing billions of transactions per day in real time and powering both startup and established industry participants.

As a Staff Platform Engineer in a multi-disciplinary team, you will design, implement, and optimize our API edge services, tooling, and infrastructure to ensure robust and secure API management. You will collaborate with development teams, product managers, and system administrators to manage and enhance our API management solutions for high performance, scalability, and reliability.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Edge Services Leadership: Design and oversee enterprise API edge services and infrastructure; establish best practices for API management, including version control, security policies, and traffic management.
  • Advanced NGINX Configuration and Optimisation: Configure and optimise NGINX to handle high-volume traffic, including load balancing, reverse proxying, and caching strategies.
  • Automation and Integration: Architect automation scripts and tools to strengthen deployments and configurations; integrate API solutions with CI/CD pipelines; drive infrastructure automation.
  • Documentation and Training: Develop comprehensive documentation and guidelines; lead training to ensure teams implement best practices.
  • Proactive Monitoring and System Optimisation: Monitor performance and security; identify bottlenecks and implement real-time insights through advanced logging and monitoring.
  • Strategic Collaboration and Communication: Partner with engineers and stakeholders to align initiatives with business objectives; communicate updates and drive continuous improvement.
  • Technical Leadership: Support and mentor junior engineers; stay informed about industry trends.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor\’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of platform engineering experience with knowledge of enterprise API management tools (Apigee, Kong, Tyk) and NGINX configuration.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies and iterative software delivery.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Experience with containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), cloud platforms (GCP, AWS), and infrastructure automation (Terraform, Ansible).
  • Expertise in software release tooling, GitOps, and CI/CD practices.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of API management methodologies, security practices, and traffic management strategies.

Work Environment

  • Hybrid office environment (3 days per week in the office).
