Senior SOC Analyst

Responsible for day‑to‑day security threat analysis, vulnerability management, incident response, and threat hunting.

Works within a SOC team, monitors incidents, analyzes alerts, determines true and false positives, and collaborates with incident responders.

Provides technical leadership, develops automation, mentors analysts, and contributes to strategic improvement of security posture.

Responsibilities

• Work in a SOC team environment.
• Monitor, analyze, and investigate security incidents and events using SIEM, UEBA, threat intel, and EDR.
• Perform incident and event correlation, triage, and analysis using enterprise sources.
• Generate reports, dashboards, and presentations from security technologies.
• Act as point of contact for Tier 1 & Tier 2 escalations for in‑depth event investigations.
• Participate in on‑call rotation.
• Analyze trending security data from heterogeneous devices.
• Provide Incident Response (IR) support for actionable incidents.
• Communicate with stakeholders, internal customers, and senior management to provide updates and ensure resolution.
• Investigate, document, and report on security threats and emerging trends.
• Integrate technologies and share information with SOC analysts and external teams.
• Participate in internal projects to increase SOC efficiency and tooling.
• Improve and challenge existing processes in an agile environment.
• Maintain security documentation, including incident reports and KB articles.
• Provide technical expertise, mentoring, and advice to other departments.
• Perform advanced threat hunting with custom queries, behavioral analysis, and threat modeling frameworks.
• Develop and maintain security dashboards, metrics, and executive‑level reporting.
• Create and maintain security tools, playbooks, and SOAR workflows to improve SOC efficiency.
• Core Qualifications
• Permanent right to live and work in the United Kingdom – position based in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
• Bachelor’s degree in Security, Forensics, Cyber Security, Computer Science, or equivalent industry experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in an information security or cyber security role.
• Proven experience as a security analyst, incident handler/responder, security engineer, or penetration tester.
• Knowledge of security methodologies and frameworks such as the Cyber Kill Chain, Diamond Model, MITRE ATT&CK, and D3FEND.
• Knowledge of technical security solutions including firewalls, SIEM, NIDS/NIPS/HIDS/HIPS, EDR, DLP, SOAR, proxies, network behavioral analytics, orchestration, automation, and cloud security.
• In‑depth understanding of TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, FTP, SSH, SSL/TLS, HTTP protocols, network analysis, and email security.
• Knowledge of common malware threats and attack methodologies.
• Proficiency in scripting and programming languages (Power Shell, Python, Bash, . NET, Ruby, Java, C, etc.).
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code.

• GCIA, GCIH, GCFE, GCFA, Security+, CCNA Cyber Ops, OSCP, GPEN, GWAPT, CEH, Cy SA+
