Overview
We are currently recruiting for a Gas Central Heating Engineer on behalf of a very well established Mechanical, Electrical and Maintenance contractor.
Established over 30 years ago, the company now employs upwards of 100 staff throughout the UK and provides design, construction and maintenance services for a range of blue chip, public and private clients on projects including Rail, Commercial, Industrial and Social Housing.
As the Gas Central Heating Engineer, you will be required to carry out gas central heating installs and servicing to various sites across the East and West Midlands. Candidates must have good customer service skills as you will be representing the company attending policy holders and customers’ properties and carrying out ongoing work on multiple contracts.
This is a permanent role, paying £35,360 – £41,600 per annum, covering the East and West Midlands. Perks also include van & fuel card, overtime, pension, bonus scheme, discounts at a number of leisure centres, discount to mobile phone contracts, mental health support, funded training to improve engineers’ capability, and a £15 fortnightly allowance to keep the vehicle clean. You will receive 20 days annual leave plus bank holidays, which can increase, due to length in service, up to a maximum of 5 days. The core working hours are 8am – 5pm, although there may be a certain degree of flexibility depending on individual circumstances. The call out rota is 1 in 3.
Role Description
- Carry out central heating installations.
- Service and maintenance work to central heating systems.
- Ensure that work is carried out to a high standard of quality and in line with current legal standards, company policies and procedures.
- Be responsible for their own work and ensure it is completed in a safe and diligent manner.
- Complete any required paperwork and reports accurately and on a timely basis.
- Participate in the standby rota for emergency calls, outside normal working hours.
- Comply fully with Health, Safety & Environmental policies.
- Provide excellent customer service to building occupants, ensuring they are made aware of work order progress in a timely manner.
Skills & Attributes
- Valid Domestic Gas Qualifications.
- Ability to work independently and unsupervised.
- Strong, demonstrable competencies in building services trades.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- An excellent understanding of Health and Safety.
- Competent in the use of computers and data handling including Microsoft Office systems.
- Full UK Driving License.
