Due to growth, we are currently recruiting for a Health & Safety Manager on behalf of a national provider of sustainable heating solutions.

Operating for over 35 years, they have hundreds of staff working for them across multiple offices in the UK.

Their services include the design, installation, maintenance and management of plant rooms and heat networks on behalf of local authorities, universities, factories, housing associations, private landlords and utility energy suppliers.

As the Health & Safety Manager, you will lead and manage all aspects of Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety, across the organisation and its operations.

The role ensures full regulatory compliance, promotes a strong safety culture, and drives continuous improvement in operational performance, sustainability, customer service, and information governance.

This is a permanent position working Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.

The salary is paying up to £50k per annum depending on experience.

You will also receive a car allowance of £7,200 per year.

The role offers hybrid working (Home/Site/Office).

Ideally we are looking for someone based within an hour of Shipley who can cover the Northern region.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and maintain the company’s Health & Safety Management System (aligned to ISO 45001).
  • Ensure compliance with UK HSE legislation and sector-specific regulations (e. g., CDM Regulations, pressure systems, gas safety where applicable).
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Conduct audits, inspections, and risk assessments across operational sites.
  • Manage the Environmental Management System (ISO 14001 aligned).
  • Support decarbonisation and sustainability targets linked to heat networks.
  • Drive initiatives to reduce carbon emissions and improve resource efficiency.
  • Support maintenance & improvement of the Quality Management System (ISO 9001).
  • Lead internal and external audits and drive corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and standards.
  • Maintain risk registers covering operational, environmental, safety & compliance.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with heat networks and associated activities.
  • Develop and deliver QEHS training programmes alongside the Learning & Development Manager.
  • Promote a culture of safety, compliance, and responsible behaviour.
  • Lead management reviews and ensure governance frameworks are effective.
  • Provide insight and recommendations to improve compliance and operational resilience.

Skills & Attributes

  • NEBOSH or IOSH Certification.
  • Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Environmental Science, or related discipline.
  • Experience in QEHS management in utilities, energy, engineering, or infrastructure sectors
  • Experience managing ISO-certified systems
  • Experience of regulatory compliance and audits
  • Knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation, Environmental compliance frameworks and Quality management systems.
  • The ability to work independently and use your own initiative.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
  • An eye for detail and a desire to work to a very high standard.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
