Bid Writer – Construction & Civil Engineering

Turn your construction knowledge and writing skills into bids that help win the next project.

Apex M&E Solutions is recruiting a Bid Writer for an established, award-winning construction and civil engineering contractor delivering residential, commercial, education and infrastructure projects.

You’ll help shape submissions from the initial PQQ through to the final tender, working with technical teams and external consultants to turn their expertise into clear, persuasive proposals.

This is an opportunity to influence the approach to each bid, lead assigned submissions and gather information directly from project teams to bring your writing to life.

What you’ll do

  • Develop win strategies, plan responses and identify what matters most to each client.
  • Review PQQ and tender requirements, coordinate contributions and manage submission deadlines.
  • Lead bid kick-off meetings and keep contributors focused on agreed actions.
  • Write, edit and review bespoke responses, including technical and methodology content.
  • Visit sites and work with delivery teams to develop credible project case studies.
  • Prepare presentation materials and attend client interviews when required.
  • Maintain bid information and use feedback to improve future submissions.

What you’ll bring

You’ll have at least five years’ experience preparing construction or civil engineering PQQs and tenders, with a track record of producing accurate, engaging submissions.

You should be confident interviewing technical colleagues, organising complex information and managing several deadlines. Strong Microsoft Office and presentation skills are essential; a relevant third-level qualification would be advantageous.

Your package

  • Competitive salary with performance-based bonus.
  • Hybrid working and full-time or part-time hours.
  • Private medical insurance, life assurance and employee assistance programmes.
  • Additional holidays, service awards and marriage leave.
  • Enhanced family-friendly benefits.
  • Training, career development and support for professional membership.
  • Social and team-building events.
