Special Needs Teaching Assistant required to support two Year 1 students with ASD. The role involves providing 1:1 support to two children across the school day.

Morning: Working with a child who requires a proactive, energetic and engaging approach to help them stay focused and on task. The successful candidate will use creativity, patience and positivity to make learning enjoyable and accessible.

Afternoon: Working with a child who would benefit from calm, consistent support and somebody who can recognise triggers, understand behavioural traits linked to ASD, and able to implement strategies to maintain engagement and emotional regulation.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1-1 support to two children with ASD.
  • Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies.
  • Support pupils with communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation.
  • Adapt classroom activities to meet individual learning needs.
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals.
  • Promote inclusion and encourage independence.

Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children with ASD.
  • Understanding of strategies such as visual timetables, PECS or sensory regulation approaches.
  • Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • L2/L3 Teaching Assistant, Childcare or SEND qualification.
