SEN Teaching Assistant required to support two students on a 1-1 basis with ASD and SEMH. The following information aims to provide potential candidates with a better understanding of the requirements for this role.

For the role as a SEN Teaching Assistant you will be required to work with one student in the morning and another student during the afternoon, both within the classroom and during learning activities outside the classroom. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting engagement, emotional regulation and positive behaviour, enabling both students to access their learning with progression.

To start as soon as possible, Monday to Friday 8.30am – 3.30pm (Term time only).

SEN Teaching Assistant responsibilities:
  • Providing 1:1 tailored support for the students with ASD/SEMH needs.
  • Supporting learning and development in the classroom and activities outside the classroom.
  • Helping the students to regulate emotions, manage behaviour and engage positively with their learning and development.
  • Supporting social communication, independence and confidence.
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCo.
  • Has experience working with children that have ASD and SEMH.
  • To have an understanding of the importance of structure, routine and clear boundaries.
  • Happy to assist with personal care if needed.
  • Teaching Assistant L2/L3, Care or SEND qualification.
