Looking to recruit a committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join the team in a Hornchurch School covering a maternity leave. The successful Teaching Assistant will support teaching and learning within a Year 1 mainstream class, including providing targeted support for students with Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This is a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on children’s learning and development during a key stage of their education.

Teaching Assistant Responsibilities and Requirements:

  • Support the class teacher in delivering high-quality teaching and learning to the Year 1 students.
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils, including those with SEND.
  • Promote positive behaviour and inclusion within the classroom.
  • Help prepare classroom resources and learning materials.
  • Support the students' emotional wellbeing and social development.
  • Experience working within a primary school setting (preferably Key Stage 1).
  • Experience supporting children with SEND (e.g. ASD, speech and language needs, ADHD, SEMH).
  • A patient, caring and flexible approach.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Ideally to have Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
