Apex Educ8 are looking for a SEMH Teaching Assistant / Specialist Support Assistant to join a school in Ealing, supporting pupils who may need additional support with their social, emotional and mental health needs. This role would suit someone who is calm, patient and consistent, with the ability to build strong relationships with pupils and provide the right level of support to help them engage with learning. You’ll need to be confident working with pupils who may present with challenging behaviour or find the school environment difficult, while understanding the importance of boundaries, trust and consistency.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual and small-group support to pupils with SEMH needs
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
- Support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour and engagement
- Help pupils access learning and participate positively in school life
- Use consistent approaches to support behaviour and boundaries
- Recognise when pupils may need additional support and respond appropriately
- Work closely with teachers and the wider pastoral and SEN team
- Support pupils in developing confidence, independence and positive relationships
- Contribute to a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment
Requirements
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs is desirable
- Experience working with challenging behaviour or complex needs
- Calm, patient and resilient approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Consistent approach to boundaries and behaviour
- Ability to remain composed in challenging situations
- Genuine commitment to supporting pupils' wellbeing and development
