Role Description

The Conveyor Belt Fitter role is a full-time, on-site position based in Mirfield. The role involves installing, fitting, and splicing conveyor belts at customer premises and in workshop settings, following technical specifications and safety procedures. Day-to-day tasks include measuring and cutting belting materials, using hand and power tools, preparing joints, fitting mechanical fasteners, and testing belt performance after installation. The Conveyor Belt Fitter will also inspect existing conveyor systems, carry out maintenance and repairs, and document work completed to support service records. Collaboration with colleagues, adherence to health and safety standards, and occasional travel to customer sites may be required.

Qualifications

  • Experience with mechanical fitting, assembly, or maintenance of industrial equipment or conveyor systems.
  • Practical skills using hand tools and power tools safely and accurately.
  • Ability to read and follow technical drawings, measurements, and work instructions.
  • Knowledge of basic health and safety practices relevant to industrial and site-based work.
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail when diagnosing and resolving mechanical issues.
  • Reliable team player with strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
  • Comfort working in physical, hands-on roles, including manual handling and working in industrial environments.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to customer sites as required.
  • Previous experience in conveyor belting, engineering, or related trades is an advantage but not essential.
  • Relevant vocational training, apprenticeship, or qualifications in mechanical engineering or a similar field are beneficial.
