We’re working with a large, well-established FMCG manufacturer operating a complex, high-volume production site in Suffolk. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role for an experienced engineering professional who thrives in a shift-based environment and enjoys leading teams on the tools as well as strategically. This role suits someone who prefers a Panama shift pattern over traditional Monday-Friday management roles and is confident owning site performance on shift.
The Role
- Leading, motivating and developing a team of engineers and apprentices on shift
- Planning and resourcing proactive and reactive maintenance through a CMMS
- Driving plant reliability, availability and continuous improvement
- Managing contractors, permits and safe systems of work
- Owning health & safety standards and engineering compliance on shift
- Escalating risks, failures and resource issues appropriately
- Supporting asset care, overhauls, inventory control and improvement projects
- Deputising for senior engineering leadership when required
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience leading engineering teams in FMCG / food / manufacturing environments
- Strong understanding of shift-based engineering operations and site priorities
- Confident managing breakdowns, PPMs, contractors and workload planning
- A visible, hands-on leader who sets standards on shift
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Solid technical background with good fault-finding capability
- High standards around health, safety, food safety and compliance
Desirable:
- Experience or certification in one or more of: HACCP, DSEAR, Legionella, IOSH/NEBOSH
- Background working within 24/7 manufacturing environments
