The Opportunity
Join Apex Acoustics, the National Constructing Excellence SME of the Year 2024. We are a 100% employee‑owned building sciences consultancy leading the way in sustainable building performance.
We are looking for an experienced Air Tightness Consultant to join our team. We are specifically seeking a professional capable of operating independently from day one. While you will have the full backing and technical support of our expert team, you should be confident in managing your own workload, client relationships, and technical delivery with main contractors.
Location
Flexible/Hybrid: Ideally based between Sheffield and Newcastle to service our core projects in the North East, North West and Yorkshire. Head office attendance (Gateshead) is preferred but is flexible for the right independent candidate.
Your Role
- Design Review: Delivering air tightness design reviews and drawing markups for challenging non‑domestic projects.
- Construction Support: Conducting site visits to provide practical construction advice to contractors.
- Project Management: Independently managing project deliverables, from initial review to final reporting.
- Holistic Approach: Applying a multi‑disciplinary understanding of building physics to real‑world construction scenarios.
What You Bring (Essential)
- Proven Experience: You have a track record in air tightness design and construction support and can hit the ground running.
- Autonomy: You are comfortable working independently, managing your own diary, and making technical decisions on‑site.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of construction details, building physics, and relevant standards.
- Communication: The ability to explain complex technical advice to architects and site teams clearly.
