Overview
This exciting role offers a great opportunity for a creative and talented front end developer who is looking to join a small, focused, passionate, and supportive team to help contribute to the evolution of our core B2B ordering platform and play a key role in the transition to a next-generation digital ordering experience.
Reporting to the Software Development Manager you will help us improve our front-end applications to help drive productivity and efficiency within our business, and most importantly delight our customers.
As a highly motivated developer, with significant experience (at least 5 years), you will focus on creating features for modern cloud applications in Angular running on Azure. Within the digital products team, you will be the front-end expert, vital to sprint velocity, stand up, estimations, and retrospectives.
At a wider level, you will be critical to all stages of software development from architecture design, performance evaluation, to build and deployment pipeline creation, and application monitoring.

However, we are constantly learning and, where appropriate, incorporating the latest technologies in our projects. We use modern software development practices including CI/CD and feature flagging, and are always looking to improve delivery of our software through automation, and collaboration with other areas of IT.

Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain responsive web applications using Angular and related technologies (TypeScript, HTML, SCSS, etc.)
- Work closely with back-end developers, and product owners to translate business requirements into clean and functional user interfaces.
- Optimise applications for performance and scalability while ensuring application security.
- Implement unit and integration tests to ensure the quality and stability of the application.
- Push for continuous improvement and technical excellence in our solutions owning your code out into production.
- Engage with users to understand their challenges and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Be proactive in your development and the development of other engineers. Seek out conferences, suggest videos, always looking to develop skills and experience where necessary.
- Find opportunities to get involved in teams outside of IT to improve your understanding of business & customer challenges.
About you
Essential:
- Minimum 5 years software development experience in a commercial setting.
- Proven experience developing Angular applications with a strong grasp of modern front-end principles and best practices.
- Solid knowledge of Web UI development (HTML, SASS, CSS, JS, TypeScript, etc.).
- Experience with version control systems, ideally Git.
- You are self-motivated and make pragmatic technical decisions separating perfection from delivering value to customers in a timely way.
- You have a strong focus on delivering quality code supported by code reviews and robust testing practices.
Desirable:
- Experience building applications with React
- Knowledge of feature flagging tooling like LaunchDarkly
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and product delivery frameworks.
- API development using asp.net core (C#)
- Exposure to using OAuth2.0 / Open ID Connect in Angular applications.
- Familiarity with OWASP top 10 and security web applications.
