This exciting role offers a great opportunity for an experienced Adobe Commerce Lead who is looking to join a focused, passionate, and supportive team to help deliver continuous improvements across our Adobe Commerce landscape.
Reporting to the Software Development Manager, your proven track record of providing architectural guidance using Adobe Commerce will help shape the future of our digital commerce platforms, ensuring velocity, security, and reliability is at the heart of our development.
The Adobe Commerce platform is at the heart of our business, powering both our online and offline (call centre) sales.
You will own the provision of a robust, future-proofed, best practice Adobe Commerce platform that can deliver sales growth for apetito.
This is an opportunity for an experienced and passionate person to grow their experience with an established multinational online retailer.
You will be based in Trowbridge and need to be in the office at least 3 days per week, so will need to live in reasonable commuting distance.

Responsibilities
- Define and drive the architecture and help create a technical strategy for Adobe Commerce.
- Help to develop and enforce a robust development governance framework to ensure streamlined, efficient, secure, and compliant processes.
- Help us automate code quality mechanisms and validate solutions provided by third-party vendors, ensuring they meet industry best practice.
- Push for continuous improvement and technical excellence in our solutions to ensure a clear future for the platform.
- Support colleagues with the selection process of development partners, ensuring alignment with our technical requirements and company values.
- Stay in-step with industry trends and advancements in Adobe Commerce and related technologies, providing recommendations for enhancements and strategic direction. Share this knowledge with others.
- Offer leadership and technical guidance on both existing and future ecommerce platform implementations.
- Work with our security and compliance team to conduct comprehensive audits to maintain the security of our ecommerce platforms.
- Collaborate with third-party vendors to direct and enhance the delivery of ecommerce solutions.
- Work with the business to deliver solutions that match ecommerce best practices and avoid unnecessary customisations.
- Advocate for a “configuration first” methodology to reduce the necessity for custom development, promoting sustainable and scalable solutions.
- Hold Technology partner accountable for swift application of patches, core upgrades, module upgrades, and compatibility against our SLAs.
- Define and enforce SLAs for uptime and performance, driving improvement of the current platform from our technology partner.
About you
Essential:
- Adobe Commerce Architect Master level certification.
- Significant technical experience developing Adobe Commerce (Magento) platforms.
- Strong understanding of e-commerce architecture and best practices.
- Demonstrable experience with modern software development practices such as CI/CD, feature flagging in the Adobe Commerce space.
- Familiar with agile principles and how they improve software delivery.
- Strong communication skills, with a collaborative mindset.
Desirable:
- Familiar with GitHub Advanced Security features and Dependabot.
- Experience managing software projects in Jira.
- Experience leading a team of external developers.
