The Low Risk Kitchen is keen to promote excellent teamwork by employing people with a positive attitude who are prepared to learn a number of skills so that they can work in various positions within the Prep Department. This position is 36 hours per week (Friday‑Sunday). You will start at Grade 4 (hourly rate £14.35) and, after successful training, move to Grade 5 (hourly rate £15.49). £14.35 per hour (from 1 May 2026, it will be £14.78 per hour) + bonus + benefits.
Essential responsibilities:
- Weigh products to be used in recipes.
- Control leftover stock and apply FIFO methodology.
- Cook products following the supplied recipes.
- Clean pots between products and liaise with High Care Operations when pump strip is required when changing from meat to vegetarian products or different species.
- Complete paperwork accurately and legibly – this is a legal requirement.
- Work in other areas as required.
- Ensure finished cooking is correct the first time, and check with the area manager if unsure.
- Inform the area manager of potential quality issues.
- Ensure accurate yields for consistent product quality and zero devaluations.
- Taste‑test every cooking with a team member before release to the High Care Kitchen for assembly use.
- Take consistency readings against agreed specifications to ensure consistency between batches.
Qualifications:
- Level 2 Food Hygiene.
This role is not eligible for sponsorship under the skilled worker route.
