This role offers a fantastic opportunity for a Dietitian or Nutritionist to establish a career with a company where great food and nutrition is integral to the business. Reporting directly to the Senior Dietitian, you will support nutrition standards and apply evidence-based nutrition to make a real difference to our customers and business. Based in the New Product Development (NPD) team, the successful candidate will deliver outstanding nutrition support across key areas including Healthcare, Care Homes, Education and Wiltshire Farm Foods. The role supports the nutritional well-being of customers in hospital, care homes, schools and homes. You will work closely with NPD, Marketing & PR, and the Specialist Nutrition team while also supporting colleagues in business and support roles. This will involve supporting national exhibitions/shows and attending food and nutrition conferences. Training and support will be provided. This is an opportunity to apply nutrition expertise to PR, Marketing and food development. This role is based at our Head Office in Trowbridge, though a hybrid arrangement with 3 days per week on site will be considered.

Wiltshire Farm Foods, our sister company, is the UK’s largest ready meal supplier, delivering over 330 frozen ready meals across the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Business unit support and customer service: Provide customer-facing support to business unit teams across Healthcare, Wiltshire Farm Foods, Care Homes, Schools and Community meals, including presentations, responding to queries, menu development & planning and nutrition training. Manage dietary and nutrition information in brochures (e.g., Wiltshire Farm Foods special diets guide). Support business unit teams at key conferences and trade shows. Liaise with dietitians, nutritionists and other healthcare professionals to provide direct support and advice on apetito products, systems and service and build customer relationships. Engage with customers to identify new opportunities.
  • Product development: Identify, research and manage new product development opportunities that create competitive advantage and maintain or improve nutrition standards. Specify nutrition and diet parameters for new and improved products and ensure these are met. Ensure all health and nutrition claims are compliant with current legislation. Work with the Specialist Nutrition team to define special diet specifications and briefs.
  • Staff training and support: Strive to raise the nutrition and dietary expertise across the business, including training programmes for new product launches, inductions and across the Wiltshire Farm Foods network.
  • Policy and practice: Keep apetito up-to-date with nutrition and diet activities and trends, and drive related policies and reviews. Maintain nutrition standards across Healthcare, Wiltshire Farm Foods, care homes and community meals. Challenge current practice to gain competitive advantage through nutrition improvements. Contribute externally in nutrition areas of strategic importance to the company (external professional associations).
  • Marketing and public relations: Support marketing activities requiring nutrition input (e.g., attend key conferences and trade shows, support PR activities, produce articles for newsletters and publications, advise on marketing strategies from a diet, health and nutrition perspective).

Qualifications

Essential: Dietitian, with a BSc/MSc equivalent in Dietetics (HCPC registered) or a Registered Nutritionist (ANutr/RNutr) with an equivalent degree in Human Nutrition. Full driving licence. 2-3 years minimum experience contributing nutrition expertise in industry or the NHS.

Desirable: Experience practicing and working as a dietitian/nutritionist at a senior level. Experience applying nutrition expertise in the retail sector, with knowledge of HFSS products. Experience working with catering teams in a food service environment. Food manufacturing and product innovation experience. Member of organisations such as BDA, Nutrition Society, FDF. Knowledge and experience of nutritional standards in hospitals, care homes, education settings including early years and local authority settings in the UK. Knowledge of public health nutrition guidelines and/or School Food Standards.

Personal Qualities: Ability to apply evidence-based nutrition. Effective communication with colleagues and customers at a wide range of levels, conveying complex nutrition messages clearly. Confident and enjoys presenting. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage time effectively. Ability to apply influencing skills and be a supportive colleague. Work well on own initiative and as part of a team; is conscientious and organized. Passionate about good food.
