Overview
We are looking for a creative Development Technologist to join our Product & Process Development team. This is a great opportunity to help shape the future of meals and desserts and make a real difference for our customers. Supported by a Senior Product Developer, you’ll contribute to the development of new products and the improvement of existing meals and desserts, bringing ideas to life that are nutritious, delicious, and tailored to the needs of our customer base. You will work closely with chefs, dietitians, category managers and other key stakeholders, and will be involved across the entire development cycle, from generating new ideas and concepts through to launch. There will be opportunities to lead and support on projects across all of our business sectors including hospitals, care homes and education. However your primary focus will be on delivering exceptional products that make a real difference for Wiltshire Farm Foods and our customers.
We are apetito UK, the UK\’s leading food supplier to the health and social care sectors serving more than 1,300 care homes, health care and education settings. Our meals are crafted by our dietitians and chefs, and then frozen to lock in the goodness. Wiltshire Farm Foods is the UK\\\’s largest ready meal supplier, cooking and delivering over 330 different frozen ready meals across the UK.
Responsibilities
- New Product Development – managing and supporting projects from idea through to launch that deliver compelling and viable new products, improve our offering and support growth. This includes developing kitchen scale samples, determining feasibility, calculating nutritional values, costing products, gaining stakeholder buy-in, food presentations, conducting production trials and ensuring project objectives are achieved.
- Product improvement – improving quality, nutrition and sustainability for existing products.
- Cost reduction – whilst ensuring product quality is never compromised.
- Proactive innovation – proposing new ideas that create value.

Essential qualifications
- Degree level qualification (or equivalent) in a food-related subject and/or demonstrable track record within food product development
- Experience of working with others to achieve clearly successful project outcomes
- Experience of successful project management
- Innovative, organised, adaptable and conscientious, with good communication and teamwork skills
Desirable qualifications
- Experience within frozen or chilled food manufacturing
- Excellent culinary skills
- Good presentation skills
