About The Role
Do you enjoy being out in the field collecting environmental data — but also love turning that data into meaningful insights and reports? Are you looking for a role that gives you real variety and the chance to develop both your technical and analytical skills?
We’re looking for a Consultant to join our Freshwater Quality team within APEM’s Water Quality Division. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in environmental surveys and data management who’s ready to take the next step in consultancy. You’ll split your time between site-based work and remote working, giving you the best of both worlds. Fieldwork will include water and sediment quality sampling, equipment deployment, and environmental monitoring across freshwater, transitional and coastal environments. Back in the office, you’ll manage and process large datasets, analyse results, and produce high-quality reports for our clients. Your work will support major water quality and ecological monitoring programmes for clients including water companies, regulators, and developers — projects that make a real difference in understanding and improving the health of our aquatic environments.
What we’re looking for
- A relevant degree in environmental science or a related discipline
- Proven experience of environmental survey work in a field or consultancy setting
- Strong data handling, processing, and reporting skills (e.g. Excel and similar tools)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organisational skills, with attention to detail and data quality
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to site locations
Bonus qualifications
- Experience in freshwater or marine water quality monitoring
- Knowledge of water quality modelling or environmental data analysis tools
- A relevant higher degree or professional accreditation (or are working towards it)
- Experience working on projects for water companies or environmental regulators
