About The Role

Are you a corporate tax professional who enjoys getting into the detail, but is looking for the opportunity to own the corporate tax advice for a growing business? Do you like being trusted to own your space, while still working closely with senior stakeholders and expert advisers? Are you looking for a role that will grow in scope and impact as the business itself expands?

We're looking for a Group Tax Manager to join APEM Group at a genuinely exciting point in our journey. With the backing of Applus+, the Group is entering its next phase of international growth, with new territories, new businesses and increasing complexity. This is a newly created, standalone role where you'll be the technical lead for tax across the new environmental services division, an individual contributor role with real influence.

You will be supported by and work closely with our external advisers and the Applus+ corporate tax team. You’ll take ownership of corporate tax compliance and reporting across multiple jurisdictions, while also helping shape our approach to tax governance, risk and planning as the Group scales. As the business grows, so will the breadth of this role; supporting international expansion, group structuring, and building fit‑for‑purpose processes and frameworks that can stand up to a larger, more complex organisation.

We're particularly interested in someone with a strong corporate tax grounding and some exposure to international tax (Pillar II experience would be a big plus), who's confident making decisions but also values collaboration and learning from the experts around them.

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • A strong background in corporate tax, with experience of compliance and reporting
  • A professional qualification (ACA / ACCA / CIMA and/or CTA)
  • Good working knowledge of international tax concepts (transfer pricing, cross-border issues, and ideally Pillar II)
  • The confidence to operate as a standalone technical lead, while collaborating closely with Finance, external advisers and the Applus+ tax team
  • A pragmatic, commercial mindset and strong stakeholder skills
  • Comfort working with financial systems, data and detail

This role is offered on a hybrid basis, with up to 4 days a week at home with some time (1+ days in the office near Stockport).

At APEM, we live our values of Integrity, Quality, People, Forward Thinking, Positivity and Fairness. You'll be joining a business that's ambitious, collaborative and supportive, where you'll have the space to do great technical work today, and the opportunity to grow the role as the Group continues to expand internationally.

If you're looking for a tax role that's about building, shaping and growing not just maintaining this could be a brilliant career move.
