Are you an ecologist with a solid foundation in fieldwork and reporting, looking to take the next step in your consultancy career? Are you passionate about using your ecological knowledge to positively shape development? Aspect Ecology is looking for an experienced Ecologist to join our dynamic team in Oxfordshire.

With a diverse portfolio of projects across housing, renewables, retail and infrastructure, you’ll have the opportunity to develop your skills while working alongside respected experts in the field. In this role, you’ll lead and support a variety of terrestrial ecology surveys, including Phase 1 / UKHab habitat assessments and protected species work. You’ll contribute to high‑quality reports, liaise with clients, and manage your own small projects. You’ll also get involved in contributing to tenders, reporting outputs (including GIS mapping), and data analysis. This is a great role for someone aiming to grow into a Senior Ecologist position within a few years.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • A degree in a relevant subject
  • Qualifying or Associate Membership of CIEEM (or eligibility for it)
  • A strong understanding of UK flora, fauna, and natural history
  • Experience with Phase 1 or UKHab surveys and protected species work
  • Solid knowledge of UK environmental and wildlife legislation
  • Strong report writing and organisational skills
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel (with some overnight stays)

Bonus points for:

  • One or more protected species licences
  • Experience with GIS software (e.g. QGIS) and bat data analysis tools
  • Experience with mitigation licence applications and ECoW duties
  • Training or experience in NVC or other advanced survey methods
  • Confidence managing small‑scale projects or leading sections of larger ones
