Are you passionate about driving quality, sustainability, and environmental excellence across a growing business? Do you have a strong understanding of ISO management systems and a keen interest in ESG and Net Zero initiatives? We’re looking for a Quality & Environmental Systems Manager to join our HSEQS team on a 12-month fixed term contract to cover a period of maternity leave. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in maintaining and developing APEM’s integrated management systems and ensuring compliance with ISO standards including 9001, 14001, 45001, and 17025.

You’ll work collaboratively with colleagues across the APEM Group, providing advice and guidance on quality and environmental matters, leading audits, and driving continuous improvement across the organisation. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a varied position – balancing hands‑on auditing and data management with strategic ESG, Net Zero and sustainability initiatives. This maternity cover offers a unique opportunity to make an impact within a forward‑thinking environmental consultancy. With APEM’s continued growth and diversification, you’ll gain exposure to a broad range of projects and stakeholders, contributing to both operational excellence and our environmental commitments.

What we’re looking for

  • Proven experience in managing ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 systems
  • Strong knowledge of ESG frameworks, carbon accounting standards and environmental legislation
  • Experience developing and delivering Net Zero strategies or sustainability programmes
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to engage across teams
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
  • Professional certifications (e.g. ISO Lead Auditor, IEMA, CQI)

It’s a bonus if you have:

  • Working knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 17025
  • Experience conducting internal and external audits
  • Ability to write clear procedures and guidance documents
  • Familiarity with supply chain management and sustainability practices
