Are you looking for a role where you can combine technical delivery, client advice and team leadership within a growing consultancy?

We're looking for a Principal Consultant to join our Environmental Assessment & Consents team, leading the delivery of a growing portfolio of onshore renewables, transmission, offshore wind land-based infrastructure and interconnector projects. You'll lead consent-related workstreams across EIA, HRA and post-consent compliance, working closely with clients, technical specialists, legal advisers and stakeholders to identify consenting risks and develop practical solutions. You'll also manage project teams, programmes and budgets, while contributing to tenders and supporting the development of the wider business. Success in this role will see you become a trusted adviser to clients and a key member of project leadership teams.

You'll have the opportunity to work across the full project lifecycle, from site selection and optioneering through application and determination to post-consent compliance, while leading and mentoring colleagues and working with Project Directors to help shape the future project portfolio.

  • A degree (preferably MSc), in a relevant environmental discipline
  • Significant practical experience of delivering onshore EIAs including under DCO consenting regime, demonstrating a breadth and depth of knowledge
  • An established track record of providing technical assessments, EIA and/or HRA for major infrastructure development projects in the UK (experience in onshore renewables and transmission is particularly desirable)
  • Significant experience of project management

It'd be a bonus to have:

  • Experience of leading teams
  • A broad understanding of environmental assessments with knowledge or expertise in areas such as EnvCoW, ECoW, post consent compliance and environmental consents/permitting.
  • Chartered member of a relevant professional organisation (or working towards such accreditation)

  • Experience working with statutory regulators and stakeholders
  • Experience working on international projects and delivering ESIA
