We are looking for a Principal Geomorphologist to lead technical delivery, fieldwork, client engagement and business development across a diverse portfolio of environmental projects. You will shape project approaches, build trusted client relationships, contribute to tenders and help grow the geomorphology capability.
Responsibilities
- Shape technical solutions and project approaches.
- Lead multidisciplinary fieldwork and surveys.
- Deliver high‑quality outputs within tight deadlines.
- Engage with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
- Develop tender contributions and commercial development.
- Mentor senior consultants and junior colleagues.
- Manage own workload and deliver performance targets.
Qualifications
- A MSc or above in Fluvial Geomorphology with relevant experience in consultancy, regulation or the third sector; or a PhD in a relevant discipline with industry experience.
- Strong technical expertise in fluvial geomorphology and a practical understanding of geomorphological forms and processes.
- Experience developing river restoration schemes across a range of river types and stages of design.
- Practical fieldwork experience including restoration appraisals, fluvial audits, physical habitat surveys or sediment sampling.
- Strong analytical and critical‑thinking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with confidence to engage with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to manage own workload and deliver high‑quality outputs to tight deadlines.
- A full UK driving licence.
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience managing multidisciplinary projects and delivering work to time and budget.
- Experience mentoring or managing junior colleagues.
- Experience preparing sediment management plans.
- Awareness of UK water‑management legislation.
- Experience with hydraulic modelling tools such as HEC‑RAS or FloodModeller.
