The role of School Crossing Patrol (Lollipop person) is part-time, offering Β£12.21 per hour. You will be posted at Alexandra Junior School, Cator Rd, London SE26 5DS. The position requires working Monday to Friday for 10 hours a week, 2 hours per day before and after school (between 08:00 to 09:00 and 15:00 β 16:00; term time only). Although this role is only during term times, the salary will be split across 12 months, ensuring consistent payment throughout the year.
This role is based outside Alexandra Junior School, helping students and their families get to and from school safely. We are looking for friendly and reliable individuals who are willing to work outdoors in all weathers to ensure the safety of families. If you care about your community and have a little time to spare, this could be the role for you.
The responsibilities include:
- Ensuring the safety of families crossing the road at an assigned point on their journey to and from school.
- Operating hazard warning signs as appropriate.
- Controlling and directing traffic as appropriate.
- Maintaining control over families who are awaiting instructions to cross.
- Using all uniform and equipment provided for personal safety and for the safety of families and other road users.
- Frequently assessing the risks that come with the crossing site to detect any problems.
