We are seeking a highly experienced Head of Business Systems to lead the strategy, delivery, and performance of the platforms that underpin our nationwide next-day delivery network. This is a critical leadership role responsible for a complex, hybrid systems landscape, spanning SaaS platforms and internally developed applications. You will ensure our systems are integrated, scalable, resilient, and aligned with both operational demands and long-term strategic goals. Leading business systems, development teams, and business intelligence capabilities, you will enable real-time operations across order management, routing, sortation, and customer experience—ensuring our technology continues to support growth, innovation, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and deliver the business systems architecture and roadmap aligned to company strategy
- Lead the evolution of core platforms including order management, routing, optimisation, tracking, billing, and customer-facing systems
- Identify opportunities to enhance, replace, or integrate systems to improve performance, efficiency, and security
- Lead large-scale transformation and system implementation initiatives
- Oversee prioritisation and delivery of major system changes across internal and third-party teams
- Ensure delivery of scalable, high-quality solutions that support rapidly changing operational needs
- Act as the escalation point for major incidents impacting operations or customers
- Own system performance including SLAs, monitoring, incident management, and continual improvement
- Own the business systems budget, including cost optimisation and investment planning
- Manage strategic relationships with third-party vendors, SaaS providers, and system integrators
- Lead vendor selection, contract management, and performance governance
- Define and own the data strategy, including governance, quality, and architecture
- Lead business intelligence capabilities to enable insight-driven decision making
- Ensure data is trusted, consistent, and accessible across the organisation
Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the key interface between IT and senior operational, commercial, and executive stakeholders
- Ensure business requirements are clearly understood, prioritised, and delivered
- Provide structured updates on roadmaps, delivery progress, risks, and performance
Governance, Security & Resilience
- Ensure systems are secure, compliant, and resilient
- Lead business continuity and disaster recovery planning across critical systems
- Drive effective change management, adoption, and benefits realisation
What You’ll Bring
- Significant experience in a senior IT leadership role focused on business systems or enterprise applications
- Proven experience in transport, logistics, parcel delivery, or supply chain environments
- Strong track record managing outsourced platforms and third-party delivery partners
- Experience leading internal teams delivering integrated, scalable technology solutions
- Deep understanding of systems integration, APIs, and complex application ecosystems
- Experience building and leading business intelligence and data functions
- Demonstrated success delivering large-scale transformation programmes
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and executive communication skills
- Enterprise platforms such as ERP, CRM, or logistics systems (TMS, WMS)
- Knowledge of cyber security, data protection, and secure-by-design principles
- Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Git-based systems
