A government agency in the social service sector is seeking a Research Assistant on a 1-year contract to support research, evaluation and data analytics initiatives. The successful candidate will play a key role in conducting research studies, managing survey projects and generating insights to support policy development, programme planning and service improvement. This role is suitable for individuals with strong analytical capabilities, an interest in social research and experience working with quantitative datasets. The candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders, research vendors and external partners to support evidence-based decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct literature reviews and synthesize research findings to support study design and project objectives.
- Assist in the development of research methodologies, survey instruments and data collection frameworks.
- Coordinate survey fieldwork activities and liaise with vendors to ensure timely project delivery.
- Support research studies and programme evaluations within the social service sector.
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Clean, process and manage survey and administrative datasets.
- Conduct statistical analyses using tools such as SPSS, STATA, R or Python.
- Prepare data outputs including tables, charts and dashboards to support reporting requirements.
- Draft analytical summaries, research reports and presentation materials for stakeholders.
Project Coordination & Stakeholder Management
- Track project timelines, milestones and deliverables to ensure successful project completion.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders, external research partners and service providers.
- Support procurement, project documentation and administrative requirements where necessary.
- Assist in presenting findings and recommendations to project teams and stakeholders.
Requirements
- Good Degree in Social Sciences, Statistics, Economics, Public Policy, Psychology, Sociology, Data Analytics or a related discipline.
- Familiarity with literature review, research synthesis and survey design methodologies.
- Proficient in data analysis software such as SPSS, STATA, R and/or Python.
- Strong analytical, project management and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines effectively.
- Meticulous with strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Experience working with longitudinal datasets or large-scale survey projects will be an advantage.
- Prior experience in research, policy, programme evaluation or the social service sector is preferred.
