About the Beverage Container Return Scheme (BCRS)
- Increase the recycling rate of beverage containers
- Reduce waste and carbon emissions
- Raise consumer awareness on the importance of recycling
- Encourage good recycling practices
Under the scheme, a 10-cent refundable deposit applies to all pre-packaged beverages in plastic and metal containers (150ml to 3L). The deposit is fully refunded when customers return empty eligible containers at designated return points, including Reverse Vending Machines (RVMs).
Your Role
As a Recycling Ambassador, you will be stationed at designated Reverse Vending Machine (RVM) locations during operational hours to support public engagement and ensure smooth on-site operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Educate members of the public on identifying eligible BCRS containers
- Guide residents on the correct use of Reverse Vending Machines
- Encourage proper recycling behaviour and answer basic queries
- Monitor RVM usage and report operational issues to supervisors/vendors
- Maintain a positive, approachable, and neat appearance
- Ensure the deployment area remains tidy and safe
Work Requirements
- Able to commit to the full 3-month period
- Willing to work evenings and/or weekends
- Flexible to accommodate last-minute schedule changes
- Comfortable standing for extended periods
- Punctual and committed
Work Schedule: Up to 5 days per week, 40 hours per week (Roster will be provided)
Deployment Schedule: 2 hours for each work site, must be willing to travel to multiple work sites (E.g. 9am - 11am (Location 1), 12pm - 2pm (Location 2), 3pm - 5pm (Location 3))

- Friendly, confident, and comfortable engaging with the public
- Clear communication in English
- Basic understanding of recycling or environmental initiatives preferred (training provided)
- Open to all, no prior experience required
